 Korean Fintech technology goes to Cambodia

KOTRA Phnom Penh office starts strategic cooperation with Korea Fintech forum

Chairwoman of Korea Fintech Forum, So Yeong Park, has visited Cambodia and entered into a strategic MOU with KOTRA’s (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) Phnom Penh office. With this cooperation, she expressed that Korea Fintech Forum will foster new businesses in Cambodia using a fintech platform.


Korea Fintech Forum is planning on establishing a consortium among its members for this strategic cooperation. The main idea is to apply the portfolio of its members’ technologies, after analyzing and changing them adequately, in a way that would fit the Cambodian market.

Moreover she mentioned that with this cooperation, there will be a breakthrough opportunity for the domestic Fintech market as it is currently saturated. For Cambodia, the cooperation will be a driving force for the undeveloped financial market.

Korea Fintech forum has been established as a place to share and discuss financial matters by exchanging information, making regulatory improvements and new policies, and collecting information on the latest trends. Korea Fintech forum has become a think-tank of the Fintech industry.

The number of registered startups with Korea Fintech forum stood at 44 in May 2014, but as of November 2015 the number has increased by 8.2 times to a total of 360.
